In continuing pass-the- buck game, a day after BJP delegation had met the Governor Dr KK Paul, demanding the Harish Rawat Uttarakhand government be sacked and the liquor CD case be referred to the CBI, Chief Minister Harish Rawat said on Tuesday that he could not do anything unless and until the BJP handed over the original CD to the State Government for a probe.
While interacting with the media, CM Rawat said the CD being made by the BJP, it is the duty of the principal Opposition party to give it to the State Government to facilitate a thorough probe.
Quizzed over the Governor’s instruction, he said that Rajbhawan had sent the CD which BJP had submitted along with their memorandum, to the Government for inquiry. “But the fact is that it is the same CD that BJP had made public in Delhi on July 22. We can’t send it for forensic test. For that, we need the raw CD,” he said.
He wondered why BJP is shying away from presenting the original CD when they look so serious to have the matter probed thoroughly. “Besides, they must disclose the identity of the person who had made the CD aside from the place where it was made and the time when it was made. It is doubtful whether any media house had made it. A media house could have gone for that only if the proprietor asked them to do. It is unlikely that the media persons would play into the hands of a political party unless those who own it give the nod,” CM Rawat said.
