PNS

The Uttarakhand Vidhyalayi Shiksha Parishad (UVSP) has completed the process of evaluation of answer sheets of the class X and XII board examination. The UVSP also known as Uttarakhand Board is now gearing itself to release the result of these examinations in last week of May.

The result of Uttarakhand board and marks obtained by the students assumes significance this year as following a court order, the practice of award of bonus marks to the students of Uttarakhand board in the admissions in the colleges has been done away with.

The Secretary of the UVSP, Manoj Simalti said that the evaluation process started on April 17 and culminated on May 02. He said that the process of award of marks is undergoing at present and all efforts are being made to ensure that the results are released by last week of this month.

He further stated that utmost emphasis was laid on quality of assessment and the entire process of evaluation was closely monitored by board officials.

The answer sheets of the students were evaluated in 30 centres located across the state and 6000 teachers were deployed in the process of evaluation.

The evaluators were strictly asked to follow the method of step wise evaluation in award of marks.  This step wise process of evaluation of answer sheets is considered best form of evaluation as the students get marks for various steps they took while attempting the question.

It is worth mentioning here that the evaluators of Uttarakhand are considered stingy is award of marks. An analysis of results of different boards clearly shows that the students passing out from Uttarakhand board lag behind others in terms of marks they secure. This ensures that the students of Uttarakhand board face difficulty in securing admission in colleges, Universities and other academic courses.

The Uttarakhand board examination got started on March 17 and concluded on April 10. A total of 153813 students were enrolled in class X examinations while 133417 students were listed for class XII examination this year. The UVSP officials informed that about 4000 students were absent in class X examination while 2000 students failed to appear in class XII examination this year.
