PNS

Additional commissioner of Garhwal, Harak Singh Rawat on Thursday directed the civic bodies to focus on segregation of waste at source.

He issued this direction while chairing a meeting with officials of municipal corporations, municipalities and Nagar Panchayats of Garhwal region here on Thursday.

Addressing the officials, Rawat said that the vehicle assigned for door to door collection  of garbage should use recorded music to make people aware of the vehicle coming in the area so that garbage is collected from all the houses.

Also, a record should be maintained by every officer of people paying the service charges, not paying the service charges, giving mixed garbage or segregated garbage to the collection vehicle.

He further gave directions to not mix the garbage in the vehicle but to keep it segregated. Laying special focus on cleanliness near vegetable vendors, Rawat said that civic bodies lacking in resources should fix it. Compactors should be kept mandatorily and workers should be given instructions about points to remember during garbage collection. Officials were also given instructions to keep a proper record of revenue and also focus on revenue generation as per the laws.
