The Dehradun city bus association has alleged a scam in the transport department in which the state exchequer faced loss in the collection of penalty imposed on late fitness tests of vehicles.

The President of the association Vijay Vardhan Dandariyal said that the gross irregularities have occurred in the process of granting fitness of vehicles. He alleged that accountant of Dehradun RTO Mahendra Kumar Jaisawal in collusion with tactic support of some officers is involved in the scam which involves more than 100 vehicles.

Dandariyal said that the government has made a provision of Rs 50 penalty per day on delayed fitness test of the vehicles from January 2017. Giving proof of a vehicle ( UK 07 CA 233) where a penalty of only Rs 100 was deposited in the state exchequer, Dandariyal said as per the rules a sum of Rs 15100 was needed to have been deposited for delay period of 302 days of this particular vehicle.

The association has alleged that Jaisawal is involved in many scams in past but has always managed to avoid any action due to the protection granted by some officers of the department.

Dandariyal demanded an inquiry in the scam and suspension of Jaisawal.
