Chief Secy evaded main issue of distemper: Rebel cops

Some policemen who are morally supporting the police constables’ agitation against alleged pay anomalies have sounded disappointed over the Chief Secretary having evaded the main issue of the distemper, citing resource crunch, during his Wednesday’s Press conference. “Things being confined to a very few police constables, the State Government should not have intervened the way it did. Unless indulged this way, the dissent would fizzle out soon,” said a senior cop.

Another said the State declaring that it would not take action against the agitating cops would further encourage them to dare the Government.

Meanwhile, a section of the aggrieved cops acted on the threat of skipping meals at Police line on Thursday as per the news that are doing  rounds on the social media. More are in store as their family members might protest at Parade Ground on August 31, if the social media circulation is to be believed.

Some policemen in Dehradun, who are clandestinely throwing their weight behind the cause the aggrieved policemen are striving for, say that the discriminatory treatment involving a section of the government employees and others is uncalled for. “For instance, the dues of the revenue police personnel have been cleared while those of civic police are being ignored with the state government citing cash-strapped state coffers. This is a bad precedent,” said a senior cop.

Another said that the aggrieved policemen had taken the route of hush stir, being inspired by the State giving in to demands of those who take to the streets. “They rue their helplessness being in no position to take to full-blown agitation because of norms. This is also an instance of indiscrimination. The norms should be made uniform for all,” he said.
