Talk about change of guard in the State is yet to die because Uttarakhand Congress-in-charge Ambika Soni has categorically said that few MlAs, who were unhappy with the State Government’s style of functioning, had come to meet her in Delhi on Thursday, although she has expressed unawareness about any talk about change of guard in the State.
With this statement, the State political scenario has warmed up, despite the bone-chilling weather in the State and both factions, including pro-and anti Chief Minsiter Vijay Bahuguna have started to interpret Soni’s statement in their own way. Sources said that seeing the situation getting out of his control, CM Bahuguna has joined hands with Garhwal MP Satpal Maharaj and unveiled several welfare schemes in Chamoli district with him on Thursday.
Political analysts said that due to ongoing issue about change of leadership, CM Bahuguna is busy in laying foundation stones of different projects in the State.
Sources said that Narendranagar MlA Subodh Uniyal has been busy in lobbying for Satpal Maharaj. Although MlA Uniyal has outrightly rejected this and said that Chamoli district’s three MlAs Dr Anusuya Prasad Maikhuri, Prof Jeet Ram and Rajendra Bhandari were present in chief minister’s function in Chamoli district; Five MlAs including Madan Singh Bisht, Rajkumar, Umesh Sharma Kau, Vikram Singh Negi and Sunderlal Manderwal were in Dehradun, Vijay Pal Sajwan in Hanol, Pradeep Batra in Roorkee, Ganesh Godiyal is in Delhi. Besides it, three Cabinet ministers, namely Indira Hridayesh, Harak Singh Rawat and Pritam Singh, might be present in Delhi. With this explanation MlA Uniyal, which is considered as one of the close confidant of CM Bahuguna, has ascertained that he was in touch with MlAs and reason may be anything.
The anti Bahuguna faction or Union Cabinet minsiter Harish Rawat supporters said that final decision would be taken after January 16, when special session of Vidhan Sabha would conclude, by the party high command. With this, they have also ascertained that the under-current against CM Bahuguna is getting stronger day by day.
