The Champawat District Administration and the Municipal Council are jointly going to organise a summer cultural festival titled as 'Goljyu Grishmotsav' in the district from May 30.
Apart from students from different school of the district, artists from various cultural groups from the State and other parts of the country including Rajasthan, Mathura, Kasganj, to name a few, will present cultural programmes at this fair which will continue till June 1. At the same time, to make the fair more attractive, different Government departments will also put up their stalls at the summer cultural event site at the Gauralchaur Ground in Champawat.
Apart from local traders, people from border areas of Pithoragarh including Dharchula and Munsiyari will also be able to exhibit their handicraft items and other homely made products in this cultural cum exhibition event, said the officials concerned of the Champawat district administration.
“Besides, this cultural summer festival will also provide an opportunity to various self help groups to put up their products in these stalls for sale,” added the officials concerned.
The basic purpose of organising such fair is an attempt to promote tourism activities and to give Champawat which is known for its natural beauty and resources a special identity, maintained

More so, it will also give an opportunity to domestic craftsman, traders to showcase their products and artists including folk ones to show their talents. While chairman of the municipal council of Champawat Prakash Tiwari has been appointed as the president of this cultural show, SDM, Civil, (Champawat) Naresh Durgapal is the 'Mela' Magistrate, further said the officials concerned of the Champawat district administration. Besides, councilors have been made members of the fair organising committee. The fair is being organised jointly by the Municipal Council and District Administration Champawat.
