The Union Minister for Textiles and Information and Broadcasting Smriti Zubin Irani reiterated that the Central Government is working to ensure the development of all sections of society. She said this while addressing the gathering during her visit to Seemant Vasantotsav programme in the border district of Pithoragarh on Friday. The Union Minister also unveiled the foundation of FM transmitter centres here during her visit.
Speaking at the Vasantotsav programme, Irani said that the Central Government is working on its policy of ensuring the development of all sections of society. She informed the gathering in detail about the various works undertaken by the Government. The Union Minister of State for textiles, Ajay Tamta and state agriculture minister Subodh Uniyal also expressed their views on the occasion. later, in the district Panchayat hall, Irani unveiled the foundations for three FM centres including two for Almora district and one for Champawat district. Speaking on the occasion she said that with these FM centres, the two districts were being given a special gift as the FM radio stations would prove to be a milestone also for encouraging the local talent. Through the FM transmitters, programmes in the local language will be broadcast for an hour in the morning and an hour in the evening. Within the next three months, FM centres for Pithogarh district will also be inaugurated, she added.
