Cash award for cops' team for solving case

SUNIl KUMAR

With the arrest of Nadeem from Haridwar, Uttarkahand Police is patting themselves for having cracked the case and even DGP has announced Rs 20,000 cash award to the team and recommending State Chief Minister to give Rs 1 lakh cash award to the team which cracked the case.

However, the police seem to have forgotten to take disciplinary action against the investigating officer because the accused committed crime at 3 am and hid in nearby bushes till 10 am.

As per Nadeem’s statement he along with other five members of the gang hid in nearby bushes till 10 am and later they took city bus to go to Haridwar. It means they stayed there for next six hours but police were busy in deciding about the jurisdiction of the police station.

It means police, who were informed about the crime incident at 4 am did not bother to do combing operation of the area to apprehend the accused. As if they were unable to believe like Ankit’s family, who were unable to believe that their beloved Ankit is no more. If they would have started combing operation then they might have arrested all the six accused within a few hours of the crime being committed. It means Police was taking the case as routine otherwise they would have acted seriously.

Another question is that why had police not asked Nadeem about doctors or medical practitioner who treated the injured allegedly accused Nadeem and Sajid IJ As per the norms if a person comes with serious injuries then doctor is bound to inform nearby police station.

Although final picture would be revealed after arrest of all six persons and matching of DNA test but police will have to deal with the police officials who adopted lackadaisical approach while dealing with the case. Instead of taking action against the lethargic official DGP is recommending state government to give Rs one lakh cash award to the team which cracked the team.
