Taking a suo motu initiative, police have registered a case against 14 student leaders  on Thursday as regards Wednesday’s scuffle involving two student groups in DAV (PG) College campus, informed Dalanwala Police Station in-charge and senior sub-inspector (SSI) Natthilal Uniyal. Police had raided the houses of the accused, but they had escaped, he added.

However, things in the college were normal and practical examinations at various departments were  held peacefully on Thursday. Additional police forces were deployed in the campus after college principal Rakesh Verma had sought them  from the district administration.

Uniyal said that no complaint had been  received from any of  the  student groups. “A suo moto initiative was taken over Wednesday’s incident and a case has been registered under sections 147/148/149/504/506 of IPC against Paras Goyal, Mukesh, Rakesh Negi, Sameer Tomar, Suraj Rawal, Atul, Kapil, Vinit Bhatt, Nityanand, Survesh Gaud, Vikas Negi, Bhagwati Prasad and others in Dalanwala police station,” he  informed.

Police had recovered two swords and six iron rods from the spot on Wednesday, Uniyal said, adding that a team had been formed to investigate the case. It should be mentioned here that the police resorted to lathi-charge to disperse the violent students. Four students- all from ABVP - Paras, Sameer, Kapil and Atul- were reportedly injured during the lathi charge.
