Candidates can file their nominations on July 15 and July 16 for the various posts of Gram Pradhan and Gram Panchayat members in three tier Panchayat election where polling could not take place due to varied reasons, said Dehradun district magistrate and election officer Chandresh Kumar Yadav on Wednesday. The polling is set to be held on July 26 and counting of votes will be held on July 28, he added.
Yadav said that the State Election Commission has already issued notification for vacant posts of Gram Panchayat members and Gram Pradhan on July 7.The nomination process will be conducted on July 15 and 16 and filed nomination papers will be scrutinised on July 17. Candidates can withdraw their nomination by 4 pm on July 18. Candidates will be allocated election symbol on July 19. The poling will begin from 7 am and continue till 5 pm on July 26, he added.
He said that the election will be held for 163 posts of Gram Panchayat member in Chakrata block and 148 posts of Gram Panchayat member and two posts for Gram Pradhan in Kalsi block.In Vikasnagar, election will be held for 72 posts of Gram Panchayat member. In Sahaspur, election will be held for 37 posts of gram Panchayat member.
Panchayat election will be held for one post of Gram Pradhan and 70 posts of Gram Panchayat member. In Doiwala block, election will be held for 48 posts of Gram Panchayat member. The model code of conduct has been enforced till July 28 in the district, he added.
