Encouraged with the popular verdict that it got in its favour in the recently concluded civic polls particularly in mayor elections across the State, the State BJP leadership which is presently on a thanks giving mission in the Kumaon divison of the hill State, has asked the party rank to keep up the momentum.
To earn victory for the party in these civic elections was the top priority of State BJP president Tirath Singh Rawat as the BJP narrowly missed the opportunity to form the Government after the Assembly elections last year.
Though the real test of his political acumen will be in the general elections which are likely to be held in 2014, the recently concluded civic elections were not less challenging for Rawat as these civic polls were the first major challenge before the State BJP president after he became the party chief earlier this year which he, as his supporters here believe, successfully faced.
But for Rawat this is not the time for showing any kind of complacency. The general elections are round the corner after the panchayat elections. Therefore, we have to be prepared all the time to take on the new challenges which are drawing near, the State BJP president asked his party activists during his visit to the Kumaon division here on Friday.
Ruling Congress Party’s debacle in these local civic body elections may have come in for the State BJP’s gain, but the State BJP president has called upon the party activists here to put up a united face.
Together we can conquer all the odds. Since BJP is a worker based party. Therefore, to keep up the morale of the party activist is equally important for us. The fact is that it is the party activists who help us win the all these polls, Rawat further said.
However, on the issue of victory of a number of independent candidates in these civic elections, the state BJP president said that the party would definitely examine the popular verdict in the times to come so that we could form strategy accordingly to face future challenges taking all together.
