The boycott of the sub divisional magistrate’s court by the District Bar Association Pauri has continued from May 4 here against the alleged misbehaviour of trainee Joint Magistrate functioning as the Pauri SDM.

The Pauri District Bar Association president Rajendra Singh Negi said that the boycott of SDM trainee IAS Nitin Bhadoriya’s court will continue till he continues to function on the post. Negi alleged that the behavior of the SDM towards the advocates is not satisfactory.

The Bar Association staged a sit in demonstration against the alleged misconduct of the SDM in the court following remarks aimed at advocate Mahavir Singh Rawat by the SDM. The Bar Association had also submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister and Chief Secretary through the additional district magistrate and has also planned to file a writ petition in the Uttarakhand High Court. A trainee officer can't function as the SDM, added Negi.

On the other hand sub divisional magistrate Nitin Bhadoriya said that all persons including the advocates should maintain the dignity of the court and should not utter words which are against the dignity of the court. They should maintain decorum, he added.

Reacting to this situation, the former president of Pauri Bar Association, Vinodanand Barthwal remarked that law and order has not been maintained properly in Uttarakhand since the creation of the State. This is one of the major reasons for the migration of people from mountainous Pauri to Dehradun in the plains, he said.
