In continuance of its agitation to force the State Government to recommend a CBI probe into the alleged 2013 disaster relief scam, BJP, the principal Opposition party in Uttarakhand, would stage another rally on Tuesday that would cover 35 km, staring from Jauljiwi. It would reach Dharchula and from there it would come back to Jauljiwi. The rally is meant to mobilise the common people behind the party’s CBI probe demand.BJP's Pithoragarh district spokesperson Jagat Martoliya said the party’s district president Khushal Singh Bhandari and MlA Bishan Singh Chufal would lead the stir that would start from Jauljiwi's Gori bridge from 9 in the morning. The locals in large number is expected to participate, he added.
"Funds were raised from across the nation and from abroad too by way of relief to the deluge-affected people. But it is now crystal clear that much of such fund was embezzled with the connivance of the Congress-led state government. The crime is without a precedent and those involved should be given exemplary punishment so as to deter others from indulging in such a macabre crime again,” he said. He added that their volunteers would go door to door to inform the people of the ‘horrendous scam’. Accusing the Chief Minister Harish Rawat of being deeply involved in the embezzlement of relief funds, the BJP leader said the role of the Congressmen on the matter must be exposed to the people in full. “A full-fledged CBI probe alone can do this,” he added.
