BJP to aid restoration work

To assess the damage due to natural disaster since June 16-17, the State BJP had convened a review meeting in Dehradun on Sunday with party leaders and district in-charge who were sent to disaster-affected areas.

The meeting was presided by State BJP in-charge Radha Mohan Singh. It was decided that party will contribute to restoration work in affected villages and also take care of orphaned children. Besides it they have also decided to organise special prayer meet for the departed soul in district headquarter on July 16. Members of the bereaved families will also be invited to this event.

Radha Mohan alleged that even after 25 days of the disaster, the State Government has failed to inform the people, who have been desperately running here and there to know about the missing relatives. It shows that the State Government has lost its sensitivity, Mohan said. “With the help of contribution, which we received from six States and local people, we have distributed ration, tent, blanket, clothes etc in affected areas.” He also appreciated the efforts of RSS and BJP workers, who have been carrying relief material on his back, for helping remote villages.

BJP has demanded that State Government should waive electricity bills, loans and ensure potable water in disaster affected areas’ residents. Meanwhile, “we have also appealed to the Governor to look into the matter. At present, the entire State is facing acute shortage of ration because the Government is making sheer announcements only.”

Seeing the huge number of orphaned children, the party has decided to nurture the children and bear their educational expense from the BJP disaster relief fund. To monitor the ongoing relief operation, the State BJP has decided to constitute Monitoring committee as well. Despite knowing the fact that tourism is the backbone of the State economy, the State Government is consistently making closure of Nanda Rajjat Yatra, Char Dham Yatra and Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. Due to this, tourist flow has gone to a minimum level.

The meeting was attended by State BJP president Tirath Singh Rawat; three ex-chief ministers of Uttarakhand Bhagat singh Koshyari, Maj Gen (retd) Bhuwan Chandra Khanduri and Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank; leader of opposition Ajay Bhatt, MPs Mala Rajya lakshmi Shah and Tarun vijay; ex BJP president Bisan Singh Chufal; organising general secretary Sanjay Kumar, General Secretary Gyan Singh Negi, Prakash Pant, Naresh Bansal; media in-charge Umesh Aggrawal and Prakash Suman Dhyani and district BJP president, and different cell president and member of survey team.
