BJP protest over delay in completion of ISBT flyover

Demanding prompt completion of the under-construction ISBT flyover, scores of BJP members led by its Mahanagar president Umesh Aggarwal protested at the Collectorate in Dehradun on Monday. The protesters assembled at BJP mahanagar office.

later, they took out a rally to the DM office while shouting slogans against the State Government. They said that things were so as the State Government had involved a blacklisted

company for the construction of the flyover.

Aggarwal said that the local residents and the tourists are bearing the brunt of the snail’s pace with which the construction of the flyover has been going on at an important place like ISBT.

“Thousands of people come to ISBT daily on their way to their respective destinations. The tourists are also suffering a lot. They blame the department officers for the inordinate delay in completing things. We share the same view,” he said.

The BJP leader warned that they would intensify their stir in the coming days if  the under-construction Flyover at ISBT is not completed at the earliest. Notably, the four-lane flyover on NH-72 at ISBT was started in March 2013. Other BJP leaders present during the stir alleged that the construction work kept missing deadlines because of the  State Government having  started the project involving a blacklisted company.

Works were supposed to be completed by March 2014. Due to negligence on the part of Government officials and company’s lethargic approach in completing the project, it has not been completed so far even though company was given two deadlines to complete the project in the past.

The final deadline was June 30, 2016. However, as usual, the deadline thus fixed was missed.

The BJP leaders warned the administration of full-blown agitation if things continue to hang fire landing the common people and the  tourists  in dire straits. Among the BJP leaders who led the stir were Vishal Gupta, Avi Sharma, Anant Sagar and Punam Nautiyal.
