BJP MlA raises issue of roads in his constituency

PNS

On the first day of the Winter Session of the State Assembly, BJP MlA Surendra Singh Jeena raised the issue of several roads in his constituency having been left unconstructed with the forest department stonewalling them.

He said the matter is serious as the man-animal conflict is assuming grim proportions in the State. As Speaker Govind Singh Kunjwal did not allow him to speak, the miffed MlA said he would boycott the House for a day. However, CM Harish Rawat intervened and assured him that he would look into the matter. Thereafter, the MlA withdrew his announcement.

Earlier, the MlA had said that the people of the Speaker’s Assembly constituency are also at the receiving end of the Forest department scuppering road projects. “The matter deserves a thorough debate and discussion,” he insisted. The Speaker said that as per the notice he had served on November 25 the matter should be discussed under section 58.

“We have listed it under the particular section,” he said. At this point, the Parliamentary Affairs Minister Indira Hridayesh intervened.

She said the MlAs should desist from the habit of raising less important issues under section 310. “Such practice would then become a tradition of the House,” she said.

Feeling that he would not be listened to, the  MlA Jeena threatened to boycott the house. He even marched towards the exit. However, the leader of the House, the CM Harish Rawat rose from his seat and said the matter is  serious.
