BJP MlA promises allotment of land to house blood bank

RADHIKA NAGRATH

BJP MlA from Haridwar who looks confident of maintaining his winning streak in the high-voltage constituency for the fourth time, Madan Kaushik assured the city-based doctors of  one bigha of land to house a blood bank. Notably, the city does not have a blood component separator facility at any of the hospitals based in the city, something that the people are resentful about.

The doctors affiliated to IMA Haridwar chapter claim that they have the technical know- how to run the machine. But despite  them meeting DM and Nagar Nigam last year, no land has  been made available for them to put up the long-demanded blood bank.

Often questioned  by  Congress over his achievements in the capacity of the MlA for the past 15 years, Kaushik admitted to having not done much  in the field of health.   “I bought a generator for the district blood bank. But  still  things are far from satisfactory. The people suffer when Dengue and Malaria  assails them as they are forced  to rush to Dehradun-based hospitals. I would manage lands for  the establishment  of the blood component separator facility  as well as  a multi-specialty hospital from the  Akharas. The land might be acquired on lease initially,” he said.
