PNS

Two days after model code of conduct kicked in the State, BJP legislator from rural Haridwar Swami Yateeshwaranand was issued a notice by the returning officer on Friday for violating the model code of conduct. He allegedly held a meeting in Tatwala area with the villages without seeking prior permission from the election commission officials.

Speaking to The Pioneer, sub divisional magistrate, Maneesh Kumar who is the returning officer of the area said, “A notice has been issued to the legislator for holding a meeting in Barat Ghar of Tatwala village without prior permission.”

However, Swami Yateeshwaranand denied the charge outright, saying that 15 odd people were there outside Barat Ghar. The Barat Ghar being locked from outside, no meeting could have been held in it, he said, adding that someone had wrongly informed the returning officer.
