BJP flays State Govt for not letting Modi visit Badrinath-Kedarnath

Rajendra S Markuna

The heightened war of allegations and counter allegations between the Congress and the BJP in the State added religious colour to the electoral battle with senior BJP leader Tarun Vijay here on Friday, accusing the Congress led State Government of disallowing BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi from visiting the Badrinath-Kedarnath shrines.

There are no such restrictions for Congress leaders like Sonia Gandhi or Rahul Gandhi and other leaders to visit the holy shrines of Badrinath or Kedarnath Dhams. But disappointingly, Narendra Modi was also stopped from visiting the said holy shrines last year when devastating monsoon hit the Kedar valley and other parts of the region badly, Vijay further said. It is quite disappointing. Had our prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi  been allowed to visit the Badrinath or Kedarnath dhams it would have given rise to tourism possibilities in that region, Vijay further said.

The fact of the matter is that people are totally upset with this Congress led State Government. The Congress party leaders are afraid of Modi wave here. The Congress led State Government has badly failed to deliver as the Chief Minister Harish Rawat is busy in managing things to secure win for the party candidate in the Haridwar lok sabha seat. BJP leader Tarun Vijay reached the Nainital-Udhamsingh Nagar here on Friday leading the 'Vijay Sankalp Yatra' after visiting all other lok sabha constituencies in Uttarakhand. We have visited all parliamentary constituencies of Uttarakhand and this 'Vijay Sankalp Yatra' would culminate in Narendra Modi's public rally in Rudrapur in Udhamsingh Nagar on Saturday, added Vijay.

There was a huge enthusiasm among the people about this 'Vijay Sankalp Yatra' . The people here are definitely for a change. The matter of concern is that the Congress has been at the Centre for long. But the Jamrani dam project in Haldwani still remains pending for so many years, Vijay further said.

More so, even Chief Minister Harish Rawat did nothing to expedite works on this project when he was the Union Minister for water resources. The fact is that he also belongs to the same Kumaon region.

Yet  Chief Minister Rawat has no priority or vision for the development of this area. That is why we appeal to the people to extend their support to the BJP as the BJP is the only party which can provide good governance to the people, he added.
