The Haldwani unit of the BJP has expressed anguish over the ghastly rape and murder of a seven-year old girl reported from Kathgodam area.This ghastly incident has shaken Uttarakhand, said Hemant Dwivedi, secretary of the State BJP. “We are with the family of the deceased. At the same time, we also demand early arrest of those involved in the heinous crime,” said Dwivedi.
Accusing the State Government of failing to maintain law and order, Dwivedi said that the people are feeling insecure. The crime graph is spiraling and the people are at the mercy of the predators.
The State Government seems to have lost the will to ensure its writ runs in the State, he added. Among others, the MP from Naintal-Udham Singh Nagar Bhagat Singh Koshiyari and senior BJP leaders like Bachi Singh Rawat, Puran Chand Sharma, Banshidhar Bhagat, Hukum Singh Kunwar and Deepak Mehra have also expressed grief over the incident. Similarly, people and activists from several social organisations have alsoexpressed outrage, terming the incident as inhumane. This aside, the people staged a sit-in at Kathgodam's Shishmahal area on Wednesday-the place from where the minor had disappeared on November 20.
