PNS

While a protest was being held against the MCD on the issue of slums, members of the BJP burnt an effigy of the State Government demanding speeding up of the process of regularisation of slums. The BJP State SC/ST cell city head Dharmpal Ghaghat said that during the tenure of the BJP-led State Government, under the then Chief Minister Maj Gen (retd) Bhuwan Chandra Khanduri, the gazette notification of regularisaiton of land plots in slum settlements had been issued. However, since the Congress came to power in Uttarakhand, the regularisation of slums has not been facilitated till date. “Congress leaders talk of regularisation of slums in their speeches but no concrete action has been taken by the State Government in this direction. A proposal for regularisation of 123 slum settlements in Dehradun has been passed by the MCD Board but this proposal is pending with the State Government,” he said. The BJP leader warned that the party members would intensify protest if the State Government fails to speed up regularisation of slums.
