BJP, Congress asked to nominate candidate from Chauhan community

RADHIKA NAGRATH

Election on the threshold,  Chauhan Kshatriya Kalyan Mahasabha has demanded  that  either of the two major political parties in the State-Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party - should make a Chauhan community member as candidate  in the forthcoming Assembly polls.

They have warned that they would plunge into the electoral scene  on their own  by fielding  an Independent candidate in case the community  does not  figure in the  candidate  list of either of the two principal  parties.

To step up pressure on  the Congress, they  have said that they might field  an Independent candidate for the prestigious rural Haridwar seat from where the Chief Minister’s  daughter Anupama Rawat is likely to contest the  upcoming election.

Speaking to The Pioneer, national president of the Mahasabha Jaipal Singh Thakur said, “In the Khanpur block of laksar tehsil of Haridwar, 'Kshatriya Samaj' people, residing in eight villages,  are bereft of  the means of employment.

To leverage them developmentally, the two major  political parties should nominate  a  member of the community to contest the election.

This would go a long way in alleviating their miseries,” he said, adding that if their plea goes unheeded the community would put up an Independent candidate to fight for its cause.
