BJP, Cong throw fire at each other

RADHIKA NAGRATH

The BJP and Congress  leaders have locked horns over the President’s Rule being imposed on Uttarakhand on Sunday. While the Congress leaders dubbed it as murder of democracy the saffron bloc said it had served the ruling faction of the Congress right.

Speaking to The Pioneer, former Congress MlA and party’s media committee chairman Ambrish Kumar said that the Centre had murdered democracy by imposing the President’s rule a day before the Harish  Rawat Government was to face the floor test.

“The Centre knew that the CM would win the confidence vote hands down, which is why they imposed the President’s Rule. It shows the fascist face of the BJP. They must explain what has warranted the President’s Rule in the State,” he said. He also took a dig at the Governor KK Paul, saying that he had acted as a puppet dancing in the vicious grip of the Centre.

BJP legislator Swami Yateeshwaranand, however, welcomed the Centre’s step, saying that it ended the dragging  political turmoil. “The Harish Rawat Government was tainted with myriad scams. CM was acting as a dictator, throttling the voice of the dissenters within the ruling party. President’s Rule is a good riddance. Now, the State would march towards real progress,” he said.

Mridul Kaushik of Haridwar Vyapar Mandal, also welcomed President’s Rule, saying that it was a foregone conclusion, given the inner dissension gnawing the ruling party. “It was   a one-man show. We are happy that it has been ousted,” he added.
