BJP confident, says party has number to form next Govt

Apparently buoyed by the rumblings, surfacing  within Congress, assuming  alarming proportions ahead of the monumental showdown, the State  BJP has stepped up its efforts to win more and more MlAs from the  Congress over to its side to beat Harish Rawat in the upcoming floor test slated for May 10. They have already given a call for ‘conscience vote’ targeting the  Congress MlAs and others supporting Rawat to bring about a division  in the rival camp.

Talking to The Pioneer, State BJP chief spokesperson Munna Singh Chouhan said that Harish Rawat neither had majority on March 18 nor would he muster it on May 10. “We have the number to form the next Government,” he affirmed.

Exuding the same confidence, State BJP president Ajay Bhatt said on Saturday that something incredible would befall Congress  on May 10. “Please wait and watch how things would unfold,” he said. Bhatt has been busy going  into huddle with the party brass frequently and visiting different parts of the State since the time the unprecedented crisis cropped up in Uttarakhand.

Pressed to disclose more about how they are hammering out strategies vis-à-vis the crucial floor test, Bhatt said that they had better hold their breath till the final act of the drama unfolds. “The ex-CM spiriting away the MlAs to a secret  place testifies to the fact that he is scared. Things that would follow would give a  lie to his boast that he enjoys  support of the majority of the  MlAs,” he said.
