Former Congress veteran Birender Singh, who had recently quit Congress and joined the saffron party has sacrificed his ambition to contest ensuing Haryana Assembly polls for his wife and now, would become a ‘star campaigner’ for 90 candidates of the BJP.
BJP’s Parliamentary Board had on the request of veteran leader allotted ticket to his wife Prem lata Singh from Uchana Kalan constituency of Jind district, from where Singh himself had been announcing to contest the upcoming Assembly elections.Singh on Sunday in Jind district announced that he would be a star campaigner in these elections and travel across Haryana to defeat the corrupt Congress-led Hooda Government at any cost.
He said that he would expose every corruption, mal-practice, law and order problem, favouritism through ClU etc. in the party campaign across the State.According to sources, Chaudhary, who had left the seat for his wife in Haryana, is likely to be accommodated in a Central post after poll result.
Birender’s aspirations to become the Chief Minister of Haryana is likely to fade with the passage of time, for BJP already has several leaders of its own party, who had been struggling for the said post including State BJP president Ram Bilas Sharma, former national spokesperson Capt Abhimanyu, national president of Kisan Morcha Cell OP Dhankhad, candidate from Karnal Manohar lal Khattar and Ambala MlA Anil Vij.
It is well known that how Birender had been fighting with his cousin Bhupinder Singh Hooda for more than a decade as Congressman for the post of Chief Minister.Meanwhile, BJP high command has already made it clear that it would not adopt the concept of favouritism and dynastic politics like INlD, HJC and ruling Congress party in Haryana.
According to sources in BJP, Rajnath Singh, Union Home Minister has refused to entertain requests of five MPs who had applied few days back for allotting the tickets to their relatives in State Assembly elections.
