'Beeronkhal block in Pauri should be made separate dist'

PNS

The office bearers of the ‘Beeronkhal Jila Nirman Evam Jan Vikas Samiti’ met the State Chief Minister Harish Rawat on Thursday and demanded that the remote Beeronkhal block in Pauri should be made a separate district. The convener of the samiti, P S Bisht said that the CM assured the delegation to sympathetically look into their demands.

Bisht said that Beeronkhal is located 150 kms away from the district headquarter of Pauri and touches Almora district. The area lags behinds in terms of development. The members of the samiti claimed that no Chief Minister since last 15 years of state formation has cared to visit the area. Bisht said that the people of the area are on path of agitation from last six months but the state government is not heeding to their demands.  He said that the development is mainly concentrated in and around the urban centers of Uttarakhand due to which the rural folks are prompted to leave their native places. The disparity in development is one of the major cause of this large scale migration from villages which is also causing pressure on the existing facilities of the cities.  The delegation was represented by the President of the committee, Chitra Singh Kandari, General secretary Bhupendra Singh Rawat, Block Pramukh Kavita Pokhariyal and others.
