BEd-TET qualified youths to back Cong candidates

PNS

The Federation of Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) and Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) qualified unemployed youths have decided to support the Congress party candidates in the ensuing Assembly by-elections in the State. The General Secretary of the Federation Amit Kashyap said this while addressing the media men here on Thursday.

Kashyap said that the federation was on a path of agitation for starting the recruitment process of primary teachers in the State for many months. He said that as the Chief Minister, Harish Rawat, took cognizance of the demands of Federation and asked the senior officers of the education department to remove all hurdles in the recruitment process of primary teachers in the State, the federation believes that it should support the CM and Congress party in the by- elections of Dharchula, Someshwar and Doiwala Assembly constituencies. The representative of CM and congress leader, Sushil Rathi, who took a prominent role in fixing the meeting of the leaders of agitating federation said that the Government is very serious on the demand of the federation and the process of recruitment would soon begin.

The federation of B.Ed/ TET youths launched an agitation when the National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE) directed that the posts of the primary teachers should be filled only by the Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) qualified youths. There are more than 25000 B.Ed/TET qualified youths in the state and the directive of the NCTE meant marring their job prospects.

The agitation of the Federation and the relentless pressure it put on the government yielded result as the education department initiated recruitment process for 1891 posts of primary teachers. The department later added 96 and 800 more posts under backlog quota in this recruitment drive it also further approved 389 more posts.

The recruitment process however was stuck when Uttarakhand High Court quashed the recruitment advertisement of these posts of primary teacher on the ground that the process of recruitment is not as per the guidelines laid down in the Uttarakhand Primary Teacher Service Rules 2012-amended 2013.
