The Federation of Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.)/ Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) qualified unemployed candidates has threatened to take legal action against the top officials of the education department who are negating the details of vacant posts of primary teachers provided under a Right to Information (RTI) query.
The members of the federation are sitting on a Dharna outside education directorate from last 109 days.
On Thursday while addressing the unemployed the President of the federation, Manveer Rawat said that the education department on a RTI query had stated on February 02 that a total of 4450 posts of primary teachers are vacant in education department. “Now the department officials are saying that the above information is not correct which is most unfortunate. The federation would
initiate legal action on these officials,’’ he said.
The federation is demanding that the State Government should add those posts of primary teachers who would either retire or get promotion this year in the vacant posts (4450) and release the recruitment advertisement. They claim that a figure of 6,200 posts comes out after a back of envelope calculation.
The federation has decided that it would oppose the department plan’s to hold recruitment in only 433 posts of primary teachers.
More than 25,000 B.Ed/TET qualified youths in the State are eagerly waiting for the new recruitment drive to begin as the two year reprieve provided to State by NCTE to appoint B.Ed qualified youths in the primary schools is ending on March 31, 2016.
The NCTE in its order has propounded that only Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.) qualified candidates are qualified to teach in the Primary schools. Uttarakhand was given a two year reprieve by the NCTE when the State Government plead before it that it should be allowed to appoint B.Ed candidates as primary teachers as it does not has sufficient number of D.El.Ed candidates. With the time of this reprieve nearing end, they are now putting pressure on Government to release more posts of primary teachers as it would probably their last chance to get into the Government job.
