The sit-in by the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed), Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) qualified unemployed Federation at the education directorate here has completed its 112 days on Monday. The members of the federation are angry over the State Government deciding to change the ‘teacher recruitment guideline’ which dispensed with the practice of following a pattern in selection of primary teachers in which the year-wise seniority of doing the B.Ed degree was thought paramount in making the merit list for selection.
The patron of the federation, Manveer Rawat said that thousands of the unemployed B Ed–TET qualified candidates are agitated over unwarranted change being brought in the selection criteria. He warned that the federation would intensify their stir in the coming days if their one-point demand of following the old pattern in selection of primary teachers is not met.
The members of the federation had written letters with their blood to the President, the Prime Minister, the Union HRD Minister, the Governor of Uttarakhand, Chief Minister and Education Minister reiterating their demand.
