BARC to provide training on technological aspects

PNS

Training will be provided by BARC on various technological aspects like domestic water purifier. Considering the rampant problem of contaminated water, BARC developed a purification technique which does not require electricity in order to get bacteria-free clean drinking water. Farmers suffer from crops being affected due to their lack of information regarding the testing of soil. This problem can be tackled by a solar testing kit which enables convenient testing for soil carbon and other aspects. Another implement- the solar dryer developed by BARC will help solve the problem of pests in grains. Training will also be provided on bio-gas plant which facilitates utilisation of garbage for generation of cooking gas.

SRT campus director RC Ramola said that the local people will definitely benefit from the technologies developed by BARC. Process is underway for signing of a memorandum of understanding for setting up the nodal centre on campus. Work in this plan is expected to be started soon, he added.

The BARC Technology Transfer and Collaboration Division head BSVG Sharma said that a centre will be set up in Uttarakhand for dissemination of techniques developed by the BARC.

Along with vocational training the focus will also be on facilitation of rural development. Considering the requisite standards, the SRT campus is the top choice presently for establishment of the nodal centre.

An MoU will be signed in the near future after completion of paperwork on the subject, added Sharma.
