Dehradun District Magistrate Ravinath Raman said on Wednesday that no one will be allowed to go to the temple in Jaunsar Bhabar area which shot into the headlines for the recent attack on the BJP Rajya Sabha MP Tarun Vijay with any kind of a procession.
DM said that taking lessons from previous incidents,
several measures have been taken to facilitate the persons of Dalit community to offer prayer in the temple glitch free. He reiterated that there is no ban of any Dalit on their entry in the particular temple and others in Jaunsar Babar area.
He further said that a committee led by SDMs of Chakrata, Kalsi and Tyuni has been formed to stop recurrence of last Friday’s violence. Tehsildar has been made member secretary while block development officer, nayab tehsildar, pradhan, gram pradhan and four members of SC and two members of ST from the village have been made members of the committee, DM said.
The committee members would be responsible for facilitating Dalit community people to offer prayer at temple along with their family members in pace. Raman said police would also be deployed in the temple in consultation with the District SSP if committee so suggests.
“While the gram pradhan should co-operate with the committee members to facilitate all, irrespective of caste, to offer prayer at temple the district panchayat raj officer would suggest action against the gram pradhan if the latter is found not co-operating with the committee on the matter of temple entry,” he said, adding that no one would be allowed to stage rally and other activities which may amount to law and order problem at a religious place.
