Babbar nomination for RS challenged

PNS

Two persons have filed objections to Congress Rajya Sabha candidate Raj Babbar’s nomination for the post.  According to one of those who filed an objection, YV Arya, Babbar was listed in the voters list in two places which is an offence that should lead to cancellation of Babbar’s nomination.

The Rajya Sabha election returning officer and Vidhan Sabha secretary Jagdish Chandra said that two objections had been received regarding Babbar’s nomination. He further informed that action would be taken on these objections as per the guidelines of the Election Commission.

‘Babbar representing State unfortunate’

The decision of the Congress party to field Raj Babbar for the Rajya Sabha was an ‘unfortunate’ event for the State of Uttarakhand, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Anoop Nautiyal said on Wednesday.

The AAP leader alleged that the State Government regularly made claim of providing a transparent governance dedicated to the developmental activities but when time of giving representation for the people of State arrived, outsiders were parachuted.

He said the people of the State were being duped in the name of politics. Nautiyal demanded that such practice should immediately be stopped now. He said the political situation of the State was not conducive for the common people of Uttarakhand.

The AAP leader claimed that Raj Babbar who came to politics from movies would take time to understand the needs of the people of the State and the State stood to lose due to this delay. Nautiyal said every section of society contributed for a new State but they were conveniently ignored when the time to honour them comes.
