PNS

Continuing its fight against the private schools the All Uttarakhand Parents Association (AUPA) has shot off a letter to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) mentioning the names of the schools which according to it are not prescribing the books of the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT). In a letter directed to the Public Relation Officer Complaints Cell

of CBSE, Rama Sharma

the association has attached a list consisting of 73 schools of the district.

The President of the association, Neeraj Singhal said AUPA after proper

research has submitted

the list of offending schools. He said that provisions of the CBSE affiliation mandate that the schools should prescribe only the books NCERT for their students.  Singhal alleged that these schools are implementing the books of private publishers which are very expensive and are of inferior quality to the NCERT books. He demanded that central board should take back its affiliation from

erring schools.

The association in its letter has demanded that the CBSE should take stern action against these schools for violating the norms. It has also threatened to launch an agitation if no action against these schools is taken. The schools are refuting this charge. The principal of one of a prestigious schools alleged that some of the members of the association are engaged

in pressurizing the schools

so that they can gain cheap publicity. He claimed most

of the schools are subscribing NCERT books but in

cases where there is problem of availability of NCERT books they have to take the books of private publishers.
