Appreciating the efforts of the municipal corporation of Dehradun, district magistrate and the MCD administrator for clearing garbage in Dehradun, the high court of Uttarakhand has directed that the city be cleared of all garbage within the next 48 hours.
In his affidavit submitted in the court the Dehradun DM and MCD administrator SA Murugesan provided details of the resources put in, the quantity of garbage cleared and other aspects of the efforts undertaken in pursuance of the orders issued by the high court earlier. It was stated that the work of clearing the garbage is being undertaken day and night with those found littering also being penalised.
The DM also submitted photographs of sites including Kanwali Road, Dhamawala, old Tehsil and Ansari Marg before and after the clearing of garbage.
It will be recalled that earlier while hearing on a PIL filed by a Dehradun resident, the high court had on Friday ordered the MCD to clear garbage from public places in Dehradun within 24 hours failing which the DM and municipal commissioner would be held responsible. Since then, the MCD has been undertaking necessary efforts to clear garbage from public places and other locations in the city.
