Acting on the orders of the district education officer, the district education department has taken into custody the answer sheets of the school girl who had reportedly committed suicide in the school toilet recently and has sealed them.

It is learnt that the team of experts would reassess the answer sheets to conclude whether the student really performed that poorly or the teachers had not rightly assessed the answers with any design.

The decision to have the answer sheets reassessed by experts was taken in the wake of the complaint the family members of the deceased girl lodged, alleging that the teachers had given her lower scores than she deserved with a design to force her to take tuitions.

Notably, Harpyari studying in Bal Bharti Secondary School in BHEl township had flunked in two papers in class 11 examination the result of which was published on 31 March. Her body was found hanging in school toilet tied with a dupatta.

Police investigation revealed that the girl had committed suicide with no foul play involved.  However the father of the deceased Vedram and her brother Devendra alleged that a teacher had given her lower scores in two papers with an intention to force her to go for tuition.

Speaking to The Pioneer, the district education officer Pushpa Rani said, “We have sealed the answer papers of the deceased student and they are being kept in our custody. The answer scripts would be reassessed thoroughly. If it is confirmed that she did not get the marks she deserved on the basis of what she wrote in the examination stringent action would be taken against the person responsible for the faulty assessment of the papers.”
