The inauguration of the UHUDA office exposed anomalies being blatantly encouraged by the officials who should be working to prevent these.
Firstly, the official vehicles of most of the bureaucrats and officials were parked not in the designated parking space but on the roadside in a no-parking zone even as a policeman was using a public address system to direct other vehicle users to desist from parking in the same no-parking zone. Inside the Rajiv Gandhi multipurpose complex, the corners or the staircase were marred by the red spit stains bypan masala users with the stench of urine adding to the unhygienic ambiance.
A large heap of waste was also lying dumped in the open inside the complex compound. A trader working in the complex said that the heap of garbage was considerably large till a few days ago forcing the shopkeepers to complain to the local MlA who was able to get the process of clearing the waste started. At a time when the government claims to be working on ensuring the success of the Swachchh Bharat mission by encouraging public participation, the continued apathy of the authorities towards lack of sanitation in this building which houses various important departmental offices, exposes the lack of sincere efforts by the Government to ensure the desired level of sanitation.
