Irked over negligent attitude of the State Government towards their demands, Anganwadi workers under the banner of Uttarakhand Anganwadi Workers/Mini Employees Association protested at Collectorate and submitted a memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister through the district magistrate on Monday.
Dozens of Anganwadi workers assembled at collectorate and raised slogans against State Government for not addressing their pending demands. The association president Rekha Negi said that several memorandums about their pending demands have been submitted to the state government but have been ignored.
She alleged that though State Government claims launching several schemes for the welfare of the women and children it has done nothing on the ground. Their demands include 50 per cent hike in their allowances under State Government share and issuance of a Government order for closure of Anganwadi centres during summer vacation. “The association will intensify its protests across the State unless our demands are met soon,” she warned.
