Anganwadi workers complain of exploitation by State Govt

PNS

Anganwadi Workers Organisation has alleged Government’s apathy towards their pending demands and said that the members are being mentally and financially exploited by the Government. The State president Rekha Negi warned that they will intensify their protest across the state if their demands are not met soon.

Negi said that the State Government had declared allowance of Rs 1,500 for Anganwadi workers on the occasion of Diwali in the year 2012 but no action has been taken by the Government in this regard so far. Several memorandums seeking fulfillment of pending demands were submitted to the State Government. Even though assurance for fulfilling their demands was given, their concerns are yet to be addressed.  Anganwadi workers are deputed to different duties of various departments which causes inconvenience to them.

Their demands include declaring Anganwadi workers state government employees and pay on par with other government employees. The post of supervisor should be filled by promoting Anganwadi workers.  Negi said that the association will intensify its protests across the State if the Government fails to address their demands.
