Anganwadi workers accuse Govt of deceiving them

PNS

Accusing the State government of deceiving the Anganwadi workers, the state president of Anganwadi workers association, Rekha Negi said that as a representative of the government, the Dehradun mayor had promised them that the workers will get the allowance for the time period of their protest but now it is being denied by the Government.

She said that recently they approached the State Women Empowerment and Child Development minister Rekha Arya regarding the allowance of hundreds of Anganwadi workers of the protest period but Arya said that the department will not pay anything for that period because if it will, it will be promoting the wrongdoings of the workers that they did by protesting against the administration.

She said that at that time, they were asked to withdraw their protest and as a representative of the government, the Dehradun mayor Sunil Uniyal along with BJP’s Sitaram Bhatt promised that the allowance of the protest period will be paid by the Government.

The members of the association said that they are against the decision of deducting their allowances and they will take action if the government will not pay them their two month allowance.

Negi added they also talked to Arya about lifting the restriction of the age for the promotions of Anganwadi workers besides mentioning that no worker has been promoted since the year 2012 and those who deserve the promotion will not get it due to the age-limit restriction.

She said that Arya accepted that it is the department's mistake that it has not done any promotions for several years but she added that the promotions will be given as per the rules this time.
