Despite BJP leaders insisting on politics being kept at bay during the inauguration of a private hospital in the city on Friday, most of the speakers resorted to politics while participating in the inaugural programme. Notably, the party chief Amit Shah inaugurated the private health facility in Dehradun.
For instance, the Union Tourism and Culture Minister Mahesh Sharma who is also the owner of the hospital harped on the country switching to cashless economy under the inspiration of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “We are having 4000 employees in the facility and all payments and transactions would be done, sans cash,” he said, adding that to facilitate things, a bank has opened e-lounge in the hospital premises to acquaint the patients with the mode of cashless payments through debit card or e-wallets. He also claimed that BJP having 11.59 crore party workers is the largest in the world.
Defending the demonetization, he said there was need to swallow bitter pills to fight with dreaded diseases. “The move is like taking Quinine to fight the Malaria of black economy, fake currency, terrorism and Naxalism. The people are taking such bitter medicines happily,” he said.
Sharma promised that the hospital, the ninth one of the series, would provide the best of health care facilities for the people. “I am appealing to the people to bring anybody found lying on the road following accidents or other reasons to the gate of the hospital. The rest is our responsibility. Free treatment would be provided here for the first six hours. The doctors would not ask those who bring the injured or the sick any question,” he said. “The operation theatre is yet to be functional here with the doctors engaged in making the equipment bacteria free. OT service would start by January 2, 2017,” Sharma added.
