The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has recorded Ruby Choudhary's statement before the judicial magistrate on Wednesday. Amid tight security, Choudhary was brought to the court from Suddhowala jail and was presented in the chief judicial magistrate's court. It is understood that her statement was recorded under the section 164 of the CrPC before the judicial magistrate.
While emerging out of the court, Ruby was surrounded by reporters and when asked about her reactions on the development, she said, "I am fighting for truth and truth will finally prevail." She was sent to Suddhowala jail from the court. Senior police officers remained tight-lipped and avoided the media by not returning the calls made to them.
Observers said the SIT, formed to crack the case by the State police, has been acting in a blatantly partisan manner."They are riveted on Ruby alone without even questioning others. She is a small fry. The SIT seems to be bent on letting the important players off the hook. If that happens it would be tantamount to travesty of justice," an observer said.
Ajit Negi, a resident of Dehradun, said, "Police have not revealed so far whether they had questioned the academy officers. We don't know whether the SIT members are wilting under pressure from the mighty IAS lobby or not. People are watching the case with interest and they want things be brought to the logical conclusion."
Moreover, leaders of various political parties had also expressed apprehension over the sloth with which the investigation has been going on. They questioned as to whether the SIT is rolling out time to some academy officials to "tamper" with the evidences. "The lack of action is conspicuous, triggering hostile speculation over the probe team's intention," said a BJP leader based in Mossoorie.
With things moving at a snail's pace, the clamour for a CBI probe continues to gain momentum. It should be mentioned here that based on report registered by lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (lBSNAA) security officer Satyaveer Singh, a case under Sections 420/467/468/471 of the IPC was filed against Uttar Pradesh (Muzaffarnagar) native Choudhary on April 2 evening.
Singh had alleged that she had stayed for around seven months at the campus clandestinely. She came out on April 3 before the media and alleged that Saurabh Jain, an IAS officer and deputy director of lBSNAA, had helped her to stay there for a hefty amount of money.
