Pauri District Magistrate Chandra Shekhar Bhatt stressed that administration is meant to serve the public and that all departments should be sensitive to redressal of the problems faced by the public.
Reviewing the progress of district plan, State sector, Central aided and externally aided plans, Bhatt instructed heads of all departments to ensure the physical verification of their department programme and plans warning that action will be taken against officials responsible in case complaints against them are found to be true. There is relaxation of the election code of conduct till May 26 and the departments should take the advantage of this and speed up execution of various works. The full report of the execution of work and expenditure till March 31, 2014 should be submitted to the statistics officer so that the report can be sent to the State Government, added Bhatt.
While monitoring the State sector progress, the DM instructed officers to take up the work of MlA local Area Development funds on priority basis while ensuring that all works are completed within the stipulated time without compromising on quality or transparency. The report on verification of the work should be given in detail so that remedial or disciplinary action can be taken effectively if and when required. Bhatt emphasised that efforts should be made to upgrade works categorised C and D in the 20 points programme to A category as the district is presently positioned eighth in the State in execution of the 20 points programme. Chief development officer Navneet Pandey, district development officer Ved Prakash, chief education officer Kuldeep Gairola and other district level officials were among those present in the meeting.
