Regular flight by the Air India between Delhi and Pantnagar in Udham Singh Nagar is now to be started from October 14. Earlier, the air service between the two destinations was to be commenced from October 1, 2014.

Air India is likely to fly a 48 seater aircraft, ATR-42, between Delhi and Pantnagar. The regular flights by the Air India between Pantnagar and Delhi will be available from the Pantnagar airport for four days in a week i.e. Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

The aircraft will fly from Delhi at 2.30 pm and would reach the Pantnagar airport at 3.20 pm, while the aircraft will take off for Delhi from Pantnagar airport at 3.45 pm on the same day and will reach Delhi around 4.45 pm, said the officials concerned .

Presently, there is no regular flight from the Pantnagar airport. So people particularly industrialists who are working in this region, had been demanding to have proper air connectivity from this Terai region of the hill State.

So, keeping in view long pending demands from the entrepreneurs and people at large to have regular flight from this region,  the Government has finally  been able to start regular flight from the Pantnagar airport.

The regular flight between Delhi and Pantnagar is now being started from October 14, said Pankaj Kumar Pandey, District Magistrate, Udham Singh Nagar. Commencement of air  transport service from this airport will definitely help provide  better transport services to the industrialists, he added.

More so, citizens of this region may also make the most of the air service from here. At the same time the authorities concerned of the Pantnagar airport have also maintained that steps are being taken to ensure proper facilities for passengers and safety at the airport on priority basis. So better transport services may go a long way to boost the industrial sector in the Himalayan state, maintained the industrialists.

Apart from industry sector, modern and fast mode of transportation may also come in handy to boost tourism sector which plays a significant role in  the hill State’s economy.
