The Uttarakhand Mahila Manch would be forced to undertake an agitation if the State Government fails to rein the condescending attitude of private school operators. The convener of Manch, Kamla Pant said this while addressing the newsmen here on Monday. She said that the private school operators are engaging in open loot and the Government is only a mute spectator.
The convener of manch said that there is atmosphere of despair among the womenfolk and those who participated actively in struggle of statehood due to the nonchalant attitude of State Government towards the plight of those who are sending their children in these schools. She said that a proper system of fees determination should be enacted in which the schools should explain the propriety of the fees they are charging.
Pant said that the Government should immediately impose a moratorium on increase in fees of private schools. She said that only poor people are sending heir wards to the Government schools. Pant lambasted the Education Minister of engaging in verbosity only as he once ordered that all teachers should compulsorily send their children to the Government schools and then remained silent. Pant said that the compulsion for admission in Government school should be imposed on people’s representatives, Government officers along with teachers.
She said that she has written a letter to the State Chief Minister Harish Rawat to stop the hegemony of the private schools. The Press conference was attended by district president Nirmala Bisht and other workers.
