The agitating students and the leaders of the National Students Union of India (NSUI) who were detained by the police on Sunday night for showing black flags to the State Minister Dhan Singh Rawat during a programme near Parade Ground were released on Monday afternoon. The Congress leaders claimed that the students were beaten by the police.
The Congress leader Prakash Joshi said that the students who are camping at the protest site for last many days got agitated when they realised that the union HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank is visiting a programme at a venue which is near the protest site and decided to show black flags to him.
The Union Minister who probably was alerted by the administration skipped the event.
