The agitating Federation of the Bachelor of Education (BEd) and Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) qualified unemployed youths would force locking of education directorate on Monday in support of their demand.
The Federation has also planned to hold a March to the State Assembly on Tuesday. The members of the federation are sitting on a marathon Dharna at the education directorate in support of their demand for increasing the number of posts in the recent recruitment advertisement for the primary teachers in State Education department.
The spokesperson of the federation Arvind Barthwal told The Pioneer that the members would place a lock at the entrance of the education directorate as a protest measure. He informed that the federation would hold a massive March to state assembly on March 15 in the hope that the lawmakers of State hear their voice.
Many members of the federation are also sitting on a hunger strike at the agitation site. On Saturday, the President of the Federation, Manveer Rawat was forcibly lifted from the site as his condition deteriorated. Rawat had even stopped taking water.
The education department had advertised 1200 posts of the primary teachers recently. However, the agitated members of federation are demanding that the government should increase the number of vacancies. The anxiety of these candidates is understandable as they would be rendered not eligible for being employed as primary teachers after March 31 as the National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE) has mandated that the only Diploma in Elementary Education (DElEd) qualified candidates would be eligible to teach in the primary schools after March 31, 2016. There are more than 30000 youths in Uttarakhand who have qualified both the BEd and TET level I examinations.
