As Dehradun experienced another warm day on Friday with the mercury shooting up to 37 degree Celsius-two notches above the normal- there might be a respite in the form of rain on Saturday. As per the weather forecast sent by the Met department, it might rain sporadically across some of the districts of the State like Dehradun, Pauri, Tehri, Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag and Pithoragarh on Saturday. The rain might be accompanied by thunder in some isolated places across these districts on the day, the weathermen said.
In Dehradun, the residents grappled with a sweltering heat on Friday. The maximum and minimum temperatures here settled at 37.0 degree Celsius and 22.6 degree Celsius respectively. The suffering due to the summer heat was further compounded by the spell of power outages which happened in many localities of the city on Friday. With the heat becoming intolerable during the noon, traffic substantially thinned on many of the otherwise bustling roads of the city. Students while on their way back home after the school was over suffered too under the scorching sun.
The ice cream and juice vendors, however, did brisk business as the people flocked to them to slake thirst.
The weather forecast for the State for Saturday is mainly clear to partly cloudy sky with possibility of light rain or thundershower in some districts, including Dehradun, and dry climate for the rest of the State.
The same for Dehradun is that the maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be hovering in the neighbourhood of 37 degree Celsius and 22 degree Celsius respectively.
Meteorological centre director Bikram Singh said that the climate was dry in the pain districts while it drizzled in some mountainous areas on Friday.
