Taking a cue from the Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat, State Additional Director General of Police, (law and order) Ram Singh Meena inspected several localities in the State capital on Monday night. He ordered Dehradun SSP Pushpak Jyoti to suspend two policemen who were found negligent while on duty in Dharampur area. Moreover, SSP Jyoti transferred three policemen to police line after they were caught fiddling with duty.

ADGP Meena inspected several places coming under the Police Station areas of Doiwala, Nehru Colony, Dalanwala and Kotwali aside from the outskirts of Raipur police station area on Monday night. He found two policemen deputed at Dharampur warming themselves up before woodstoves, away from their assigned duty post. He asked them to make rounds and be on their toes instead.

The cold perhaps proved to be their 'Nemesis'. Meena came back to the same place to find the duo again huddling around the woodstoves. Meena ordered SSP to suspend them. They were identified as Rusendra Kumar and Devraj.  Meena directed SSP Jyoti to intensify police patrolling during the night hours in the district and ensure that policemen, deputed at the crossings, are vigilant.  Police should question the suspicious persons and take their details. Besides, he ordered policemen be equipped with alcometre and beacon at important places with fog setting in to reduce visibility. Apart from this, police should conduct vehicle checking drives and challan should be imposed on traffic violators in case of drunk driving, rash driving and other forms of traffic rule violations, he added.

Moreover, Dehradun SSP Jyoti attached  three policemen — Dharmendra Kumar, lal Singh and Ashish-on being found neglecting duty. Dharmendra Kumar was deputed at Karanpur Chowk while lal Singh and Ashish, at Araghar Police post, it is learnt.
