Intensifying their agitation against hegemony of private schools, the activists of Shiksha Jan Sangharsh Abhiyan barged into the office of State Education Director on Friday.

The members of SJSA, which is a motley association of various social and political groups arrived at the office of Education Director and started shouting slogans against the apathetic attitude of the education department towards the problems of the parents which are regularly harassed by the owners of private schools.

The secondary education director RK Kunwar was not in the office when the activists entered into his room and staged a sit-in. The leader of the SJSA Kamla Pant said that the education department should explain as to what it is doing to rein in the private schools.

The activists later handed over a memorandum to Joint Director B S Negi. She said that department should hand over the list of recognised schools and name of its representatives in the Governing bodies of these schools.

She claimed that the Government is doing nothing to improve the quality of education in the Government school and working hand in glove with the private schools owners and helping these schools in their open loot.
